When Gabrielle (Gabbie) Charles was presented with the chance to coach for FCA, it was something she could not resist: “The way FCA combines the passion for God and sports into one work ethic creates such a positive environment. There is an unmistakable aura of happiness and love associated with FCA, and to be a part of such an inspirational group of coaches, players, and parents is an opportunity I could not pass up!” she said.
Originally from Auburn, NY, Gabbie played both field hockey and lacrosse for Auburn High School, as well as coached summer and winter youth camps, prior to graduating in 2013.
During her freshman year at Nazareth College, Gabbie was introduced to FCA by a friend in Nazareth’s PT program, and has been involved with FCA on campus for the past two years — attending huddles and the ever-popular campus FCA dodgeball tournaments. She currently plays for Nazareth’s women’s lacrosse team, where in 2017 she received the inaugural Jeff Van Gundy Award for team commitment, leadership, and pride.
Excelling also in academics, in 2016 and 2017 Gabbie was named Nazareth’s “National Student-Athlete.” She is enrolled in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program with plans to graduate with her doctorate degree in May 2019.
